Campfire info from Troy

Dear Kindergarten Parents:

I hope you all have had enjoyable weekends! Before the new week begins, I want to touch base about the PTA Kindergarten Campout planned for this coming Friday, February 1, from 6-7:30 PM. The purpose of this gathering is to reinforce literacy (through reading, singing, storytelling) in an engaging and memorable way. We will need help from as many parents as possible to make this a successful event for the kids.

Here are the activities that were discussed after Wednesday's Class Meeting:

6:00-6:15: Children make "camping hats" in Art Room when they first arrive (adult supervision needed)

6:15-6:30: Literacy Tents: Children circulate through 3 tents (Art Room, Dance Room, Community Room): one for reading, one for songs & rhymes, one for story-telling (one adult needed for each tent; tents and electric lanterns/flashlights also needed)

6:30-6:45: Campfire Circle: Children gather around an electric "campfire" in Dance Room for hotdogs & juice and participate in more singing, storytelling, chants (volunteers needed to shop for and prepare food)

6:45-7:15: Nighttime Adventure (scavenger hunt?)

7:15–7:30: S'mores and Pack-Up: Each child will be given a "Home Campout Kit" including a book, a small flashlight and a packet of hot chocolate mix (adults needed to purchase flashlights and assemble kits; books will be provided by the school)

7:30–8:00: Cleanup (volunteers needed; we must be out of the building by 8:00)

The following parents have volunteered to help with the following activities (thank you!):

Campfire Stories/Songs/Games: Courtney Turay
Nighttime Adventure: Jonathan Ellers
S'mores: Sioux Madden
Hot chocolate packets: Zoe Arey

In addition

Slow Loris, to be read by Claire Henderson
Photos to be shot by Paul Treacy

This is a great start, but we need others to pitch in. You should have received a notice on Friday about the event. Please return the form (or respond to this email) as soon as possible and let us know how you can help!

There will be a planning meeting on Wednesday morning after drop-off to finalize our plans. Please join us if you can!

Long overdue, PARTY PIX

Sorry for the delay with these images. I still don't know the website address for the school site. Perhaps when the media committee kicks off I'll get access to it and post accordingly.

Anyway, here goes. Spread the word.

If interested, see also INWOOD PIX.

Met Expedition Photo

Some images by Eoin and his mum, Claire from the expedition to the Met earlier today.

Did anyone else make shots?

All these images were made with a child's camera.
